National Wraparound Childcare Programme (NWCP)
How Childcare Bookings can help schools assess viability, access funding, and build a sustainable high-quality childcare provision
The government have introduced a requirement that all primary schools, by September 2026, provide full wraparound care (8am – 6pm) for those parents that need it. Where care is not provided, schools will require a robust justification for why not.
The National Wraparound Childcare Programme (NWCP) has been created to provide funding to help with the set-up and first year costs associated with the creation of new wraparound childcare. Local Authorities hold this funding individually, and bids need to be made on an LA-by-LA basis.
How we can help?
Phase 1 – Securing funds to establish new care
There are two elements to Phase 1 – assessing viability, and (if viable) completing a bid.
Assessing Viability
Childcare Bookings helps schools to engage with their community to assess the demand for wraparound care, provide context to the results of the demand survey, and help the school to make informed decisions in response to this data. Should the results indicate a lack of demand, then we will provide a report for the school to use as its justification for not providing care. Should the results indicate care is viable, then our team can help schools make a bid.
Completing a Bid
Should new care be viable, we support schools with every element of making a bid, providing them with guidance on anticipated income, costs & realistic operational models, as well as completing the majority of the application process.
To date we have a 100% record in securing bids for schools – why not get in touch to find out more?
Phase 2 – (Once funding is awarded): Full operational start-up support
Childcare Bookings offers a comprehensive support package for new providers, guiding them on a wide variety of issues, from recruitment to resourcing, to accepting payments & planning for their new care. A full summary of the tasks required to set up high quality care is provided prior to schools working with us, helping school leaders identify where they may be able to pool existing resources. The timeline for this support is typically one month.
